Ages 6-12

GCDC Dance Company

Grace Conservatory Dance Company (GCDC) meets once weekly for rehearsal and choreography. Dancers must audition and be accepted before being added to this class. Attire: Black leotard, pink or black convertible dance tights, tan jazz shoes, black jazz shorts or pants and hair in a bun.

 

Broadway Dance

Broadway Dance is designed to teach students Broadway-style dance. We incorporate show tunes and choreography from the great Broadway choreographersAttire: black leotards, black tights, tan jazz shoes and hair in a bun. (jazz shorts and skirts are optional) 

 

BTBJ

Beginner Tap, Ballet and Jazz (BTBJ) is for 5-7 year-old students. They will learn choreography for multiple dance disciplines. They will grow in strength, flexibility, alignment and attention to detail.  Attire: black leotards, pink tights, black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes and hair up in a bun. (skirts are optional) 

 

ITBJ

Intermediate Tap, Ballet and Jazz (ITBJ) is for 7-9 year-old students. They will learn intermediate choreography for multiple dance disciplines. They will grow in stability, collaboration, grace and skill. Attire: black leotards, pink tights, black tap shoes, pink ballet shoes and hair up in a bun. (skirts are optional) 

 

Ballet 

Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of Russian and French methods. In all levels, students will be working towards correct alignment, strength, flexibility, musicality and grace. Technique will be age appropriate for all levels, concentrating on combinations that will be routine so they may be mastered by the end of the year. Attire: black leotards, pink or black dance tights, pink ballet shoes and hair up in a bun. Jazz shorts are not allowed in this class. (skirts are optional) 

 

Tap 

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. The class emphasis is on developing technique, producing clear sounds and speed of movement. As students progress, the curriculum will become increasingly more intricate and complex. Attire: black leotards, pink or black dance tights, black lace-up tap shoe, black jazz pants or jazz shorts and hair up in a bun. 

 

Jazz 

Jazz class will focus on developing progressions and combinations. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Broadway, street and contemporary to develop a well-rounded technique and improve performance quality. Attire: black leotards, pink or black dance tights, tan jazz shoes, black jazz pants or jazz shorts and hair up in a bun. 

 

Hip Hop 

Hip hop is a high-energy class that will encourage students to infuse individual style and personality into their movements. Class includes upper and lower body conditioning to build strength and stamina. Attire: Black leotard, black dance tights, black jazz pants or black jazz shorts, dance sneakers, dance tank or dance t-shirt, and hair in a ponytail.

 

Lyrical

Lyrical combines techniques of jazz, ballet and modern. Choreography will emphasize interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story through fluid movement. Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Dance Tights or Nude Dance Tights, Dance Shorts or Jazz Pants, nude foot undies or lyrical shoes. Hair in a ponytail.

 

Acro

Acro is for students looking to add tricks and skills to their repertoire. This class will include some jazz technique as well. Attire: Black Leotard, Pink Dance Tights or Nude Dance Tights, Dance Shorts or Jazz Pants, black jazz shoes. Hair in a ponytail.

 

Male Attire: All male dancers will wear black shoes (tap, jazz, ballet), a white fitted dance shirt, and black male jazz pants for all classes. 

 

***Students will not be allowed to dance if they are not wearing leotards and dance tights.***
